Canonical master

A CASE is not a frozen article. It is a versioned investigation. It may move from OPEN to ACTIVE, UNDER REVIEW, PROVISIONAL RESULT or RESOLVED AT CURRENT EVIDENCE. New evidence or a discovered error can reopen it. Material corrections remain visible: what was wrong, what replaced it, why the change was made and whether the conclusion changed.

Governed sequence

OPEN

The question is defined, but evidence collection is incomplete.

ACTIVE

Claims, sources, models and tests are under evaluation.

PROVISIONAL RESULT

A dominant explanation currently exists. Material uncertainty and failure conditions remain visible.

NEW EVIDENCE

A new source, measurement, contradiction or discovered error may change the assessment.

UPDATE

The CASE records what changed, why it changed, which claims were affected and whether the result moved.

REOPEN

A previously resolved CASE can become REOPENED. Version history remains visible.
